Rugs are the way to warm up a space. Whether you opt for bright colors and patterns or a cozy neutral, the right-sized rug anchors your furniture and brings the room to life. Even better, it provides a plush barrier between your feet and the chilly floor on a cold winter’s morn.

Traditionally, rugs were a one-and-done purchase. But now, thanks to the genius design of washable rugs, they’re a statement piece you can swap out with each season. The biggest name in the game, Ruggable, recently launched their Holiday Shopand to say we’re smitten is an understatement. Here’s everything you need to know about the Ruggable Christmas collection.

What is the Ruggable Christmas collection?

First, what is Ruggable? If you’re not already familiar, this internet-famous brand makes stylish rugs in all shapes and sizes. Each Ruggable rug sits atop a sticky floor pad, allowing you to peel off the top piece and throw it in the wash. This design also means the rugs are interchangeable, so you can easily swap out one Ruggable cover for another. (In addition to rugs, the brand also sells washable pet beds, pillows and doormats.)

The Ruggable Christmas collection merges all those practical details with seasonal, holiday rug styles. Just like Santa’s sack, the Holiday Shop is filled to the brim with beautiful pieces for making merry. Plus, there are picks for every style: traditional, colorful, glitzy, farmhouse, neutral or global-inspired.

Our Favorite Rugs

Not sure where to start? These are my top picks from the Ruggable Christmas collection.

Elwood Forest Green RugVIA MERCHANT VIA MERCHANT

Elwood Forest Green Rug

I have the fall version of this rug, and the sweet woodland animals make me smile every time I step into the room. The snow-kissed details and forest green hue ensure the Elwood rug looks good in your space all winter long. My only advice? Save this one for a space where most of the rug will be visible. The details are too cute to cover with a bulky modular sectional!

Dress Stewart Tartan Rug

During the holiday season, you can’t beat plaid! And this Dress Stewart Tartan rug is an elevated option. It’s the perfect backdrop beneath your holiday dinner table or in the living room next to a Christmas tree piled with presents. It also works in the entryway or as a hallway runner. The simple, classic pattern—available in six hues—adds holiday charm to any space.

Juniper Midnight Blue RugVIA MERCHANT VIA MERCHANT

Juniper Midnight Blue Rug

If your vibe for the holidays is “old-fashioned Christmas,” this timeless Juniper rug in midnight blue can’t be beat. A bevy of deer, foxes and rabbits frolic around a Christmas tree and holiday cottages while dozens of botanical details fill the background. This rug is a moody option that aligns with other holiday decor items like greenery, garlands and velvet accents.

Morris & Co. 'Tis The Season Doormat

Welcome guests to your home with a sweet, seasonal doormat. This ‘Tis the Season option from Morris & Co. features sweet details, like festive foliage, berries and a trio of cheerful birds. And while most holiday doormats will deteriorate after a season of snow and ice, this machine-washable option will look good season after season, thanks to its mold- and fade-resistant fabric.

How We Tested Ruggable

Ruggable Before And After 3Annamarie Higley/Taste of Home

Our editors and Product Testing Team have tested a number of Ruggable products. To date, we’ve reviewed an outdoor rug and have named Ruggable one of the top picks in our extensive kitchen rug and bath mat tests. We are also in the midst of testing a 6×9 area rug, runner and doormat.

Overall, we find Ruggable rugs are a smart investment—especially if you have kids or pets. The machine-wash compatibility is hard to beat. When testing kitchen rugs, our team spilled olive oil and tomato sauce onto the Ruggable rugs, both of which came out in the wash. For our outdoor rug test, Product Testing Manager Annamarie Higley purposely spilled a bowl of salsa onto the rugs (which, again, came out in the wash). Just be sure to consult the Ruggable Washing Machine Guide before ordering to ensure your larger or tufted rugs are compatible with your machine.

We were also impressed by the rugs’ comfort. “I enjoyed standing on the mat during tasks like washing and drying dishes at the sink, prepping at my kitchen island and cooking on the stovetop,” says Executive Culinary Director Sarah Farmer. “I found it enhanced my overall comfort, particularly because my kitchen floor is ceramic tile, which tends to be cold and hard. Usually, I notice a little strain on my hips after being on my feet for several hours. However, after making sure I stood on the mat, I noticed I did not have that tinge of achiness in my feet, legs, back or joints.”
